Reebok Job - Complete Profile Importance

Posted Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:43pm by Duncan Swezey

RBK

Reebok recently came to Sports Studio looking for an athlete to be in a photo shoot. While searching our database they noticed that many of our members do not have complete profiles filled out and because of this it limited the number of people that they could even consider choosing for the photo shoot. Sports Studio is positive we could have filled the role they needed if all of our members had…

Pictures
When decision makers look at the website they need to know what each person looks like. When they choose who they want to cast in their projects they need to know if you fit the bill for what they are looking for. The more pictures a Sports Studio member has the better their chances are of being cast. Pictures not only of what you look like are important, both headshot and body shot wise, but so are action shots of the sports you play. These action shots prove to the decision maker that you can authentically portray a certain sport.

Personal and Athletic Information
Reebok came to us with specifics they were looking for in the Personal and Athletic Information sections. Without these sections completely filled out they could not get a good read on the people they wanted to cast for the project! That includes everything from location to full athletic information. Without a location on your profile you may not come up in a search around a certain area and without the right athletic information they won’t know what you have actually played.

Video
Having video of your skills in the sports you excel at is always a plus. They want to see how you move on camera because that is what they are casting you for!

A major reason complete profiles are needed is because some jobs come in the door quickly and need to be filled right away. When a production team is looking for talent they need as much information as possible as quickly as possible in order to choose the right person they are looking for. Without the right information or a picture they cannot even consider you!

Get your profiles up to date! Get pictures up! Next time a job comes in the door maybe your profile might catch the eye of the production team!

Video!! Sports Studio Casting at LXM Pro 949

Posted Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:35pm by Duncan Swezey

Sports Studio Casting held an all sport casting call at the LXM Pro 949 event in November where members got a chance to show off their athletic abilities to Coach Mark Ellis. Coach Ellis and the Sports Studio Casting team put participants through a combine type atmosphere with numerous drills where they were closely evaluated by the Sports Studio Casting staff. Some of these participants were specially chosen and given a golden ticket which gave them a chance to read in front of a Hollywood Casting Director. After reading lines in front of a camera, the video was reviewed and two lucky winners were announced in front of the entire LXM Pro crowd. These two winners were Alex Weber and Joshua Peters both will be in future Sports Studio Projects. Interviews with both of the winners can be found in the Sports Studio Casting blog.

Basketball movie - ESPN and Tollin

Posted Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:20pm by Duncan Swezey

New Line has come on to produce the inspirational sports movie “Mulkey” with ESPN and Mike Tollin. The project is about Charleston firefighter Louis Mulkey, who was also an assistant basketball coach at Summerville high school. Louis Mulkey’s goal for his team was to win the first state championship in Summerville history. Unfortunately Louis Mulkey was unable to help lead his team to victory because himself and eight others perished in a 2007 fire at a Charleston furniture store. After Mulkey’s death the local fire department presented the team with a custom helmet which they took with them through their 2008 season which ended in Mulkey’s goal, a state championship.

“Ali” screenwriters Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen Rivele are writing the script.

Tollin is well known for his sports movies which include Varsity Blues, Radio, Coach Carter, Hardball, and Summer Catch. All of these movies Tollin worked with Sports Studio’s own Mark Ellis to create the sports action and cast the basketball extras.

Could these two sports movie gurus be connected again to help show the world this inspiring story? Only time will tell…

Mark Mcgwire is back

Posted Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 6:58pm by Duncan Swezey

Mark Mcgwire has grabbed headlines again in his trek to become the Cardinals hitting coach. The resurgence of talks about Mcgwires past has made me think that someone could potentially end up making a movie about his legendary home run race with Sammy Sosa and all that goes into it. Could be an interesting movie, maybe a documentary style movie would be more appropriate…

Chris Johnson vs Usain Bolt???

Posted Friday, January 08, 2010 at 6:13pm by Duncan Swezey

Let’s Make A Commercial

You know….all this talk lately about Chris Johnson racing Usain Bolt for charity really made me stop and think. Can A Professional Football player (or any professional athlete) really compete with a World Class Sprinter on their home turf? I mean, home track? Granted, most skilled position football players have (at some point) competed in track and field events during their high school career, and possibly College. But challenging an Olympic Gold Medalist? …………..The World Record holder in the 100m?…….I don’t think so.

But, maybe I’m wrong….I mean, there was a time when most people thought Deion Sanders was the fastest man alive. And if you’ve ever caught Prime Time in action, he might have made a believer out of you.

Remember this???

Okay, that wasn’t real…………..or was it??

Seriously, someone should make a Super Bowl Commercial!! I can see it now, Usain Bolt racing Chris Johnson!!

Come on Madison Avenue….We all want to see it……and Sports Studio wants to help work on it!!

Are you with me people????!!!! Post it on your Facebook Page!!! Blog About it!! or……..just tell us what you think. Leave a comment below!

New Football TV Series

Blue Mountain State on SpikeTV

Does this helmet look familiar??

How about if we turn it upside down??

If it rings a bell, you know it’s the helmet from Blue Mountain State that SpikeTV has been posting ads for a few months and is poised to premiere on January 12. Most of the athletic equipment and wardrobe are from right here at Sports Studio. The upcoming comedy is about a football centric university that is all about winning the big game and scoring with the ladies. Think of Van Wilder meets The Program, football intertwined with some National Lampoons humor. If you like football and Van Wilder type entertainment I think this will be a great show for you.
